Logan Square is a delightful neighborhood. Large homes, parks, and a super diverse community packed with hipster establishments.
That hip community bend obviously lends itself to hip watering holes - and so we went searching. Within the neighborhood bounds, we've found four excellent speakeasies for you to check out.
Our first pick is the Soif Wine Lounge. It's hidden underneath an Italian restaurant called "Testaccio", and the aesthetic is lovely. It's got a smooth wine red velvet theme with wood paneling - and you can order charcuterie boards to pair with your wine selections.
We've heard they have live DJs on certain nights too. Obviously, the bar also has an impressive wine selection.
"Soif" is pronounced "Swaf" - we had to look it up so we didn't embarrass ourselves.
You can check out our page on Soif here for more information.
Next is The Whistler. This one is definitely on the clubbier side. There's a DJ or live indie music there each night, and plenty of room for dancing.
As with most spots we recommend, it's a safe bet to expect a line to get in - The Whistler is no exception.
It's a small space on the inside, and with indie bands playing there often, the spot is prone to getting pretty packed on weekend nights.
Regardless, it's a ton of fun, and it's on our list for a reason. It's gorgeous inside.

Now for one of our personal favorites, The Meadowlark. If you're looking for the true prohibition-era speakeasy vibe, this is a dream location.
The bar is hidden perfectly - with only a tiny bird sign hanging over an otherwise unmarked door, and the host will bring you back into the bar with a knock on a big metal door.
It's a small, beautiful space, and their drink selection is bird themed, sometimes with an added menu based around a separate concept. When we went, their additional menu was based on Chicago's World Fair.
It's just the right size, just the right level of conspicuous, and just the right level of popular. They'll still get packed on weekend nights, but The Meadowlark is still relatively unknown.

Finally, our last find is Golden Teardrops. It's hidden underneath a Mexican restaurant called "Lonesome Rose" and the interior is like nothing we've seen in the city.
It's packed with mirrors that are almost marbled, in a way - and the rest of the decorations are just as eccentric.
There's a small, nonobvious sign outside to indicate the entrance - it's more than worth a peek. We've been told the cocktails are especially high quality.

We've tried hard to find everything, but these are our recommendations thus far. If there are any hidden bars or clubs in Logan Square we missed, feel free to contact us and let us know! :)
