Small, Japanese, and boppin'.
I dug this one a lot. The restaurant upstairs (Sushi DOKKU) serves sushi and Japanese fair generally, and the same is true downstairs.
Sushi DOKKU has an underground bar that's pretty well hidden - it's straight ahead behind the bar, down what looks like a maintenance stairwell immediately after you walk in.
There's also a second entrance in the alleyway behind the restaurant - there's a big bright red arrow pointing in.
Downstairs is a small space, but it's got super smooth beats, and excellent Japanese liquor and eats. I arrived a little too late, so there was only standing room, but I saw a number of patrons eating gorgeous small plates of sashimi and sushi.
Don't make the same mistake as me - it's packed on a Friday at 7. Show up early, or reserve.
And aside from the bar space, there are a number of booths on the edges of the room that looked super comfy - so you can reserve a spot with a group.
Overall, it's a super hip place that reminded me a ton of Izakaya, the speakeasy under Momotaro.
Highly recommend. :) You can check out the website here: https://www.sushidokku.com/booze-box
P.S. I came back with a small crew right as Booze Box opened, and had another fabulous night. :) I'm sure I'll be back again soon.
